AXIS Flight Simulation has unveiled a new three-in-one flight simulator solution, AX-D Flex. It is the first front-loading roll-on/roll-off solution, enabling pilots to train on multiple aircraft configurations within one mothership.

AXIS Flight Simulation confirmed to LARA that the AX-D Flex can be used for a variety of aircraft types, including regional aircraft, regional jets, and mid-size airliners

Christian Theuermann, a member of the executive board of AXIS Flight Simulation, said: “Training providers are typically required to install specific simulators for different aircraft types. The launch of AX-D Flex will redefine the landscape of flight simulation, offering a cost-effective solution that allows pilots to train on a variety of different aircraft types.”

The mothership serves as the basic simulator structure, housing core motion and visual display components. The ‘swap unit’ – which can be pulled out of the mothership using a unique front-loading system – comprises a cockpit module and spacer frame. It also allows pilots to train in up to three different cockpits within a single device.

AXIS Flight Simulation also confirmed to LARA that it had already received significant interest from training providers and that production of the AX-D Flex simulators is starting. AXIS is working to “meet demand from clients,” although it did not disclose how many had been scheduled to be built.
